Dominican Film Festival Opening Night
4140 Broadway, New York, NY, 10033
The 14th Dominican Film Festival in New York City (DFFNYC) has announced its official program, featuring a roster of more than 80 films in celebration of Dominican filmmaking outside the Dominican Republic. The festival will run from October 23 to 28, 2025, under the slogan “Crossing Borders.”
DFFNYC introduces new venues across Manhattan, with its main venue at AMC Empire 25, along with screenings at United Palace, Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center, and The Bronx Music Hall.
The festival will open with the international premiere of Los Rechazados (The Rejected), directed by Yasser Michelén. The film portrays rising tensions between China and the USA, where a group of Dominican outcasts is tasked with preventing World War III.
The festival will host more than 70 actors and filmmakers, who will participate in Q&A sessions and panel discussions. It continues to serve as a platform for both emerging and established members of the Dominican film industry.
